Shona Walton

English Teacher

I am Shona Walton, a qualified and experienced school teacher fromEngland. I am a B.Ed. Honours graduate from Manchester MetropolitanUniversity. After graduating I worked as a primary school classteacher in Stoke-on-Trent, my birthplace.

Following this I came to India and alongside raising my son,George, who is now nearly 14 years old, I continued to teach childrenand adults from all over the world.

I have worked as a volunteer teaching Indian children from verypoor families, and I have also taught very wealthy Indian childrenand adults.Rishikesh, the town in which I live is a famous touristdestination in India. Consequently, I have taught English to manypeople who have visited here. I have had students from countries suchas Japan, Korea, China, Taiwan, France, Germany, Belgium, Italy,Spain, Hungary and Romania.

I have also edited two lengthy books for a local Indian writer,and have assisted many other people in editing differentmaterial.

In June 2010 I joined the Himalayan LanguageInstitute as an English teacher and now I am giving online classes topeople from all over the world. I also teach Indian children andadults on a daily basis in our local classroom.

I view my position as a teacher as my purpose in life to educateand to share knowledge with others. My experience now lies in thefield of teaching English as a second language, and this I enjoy verymuch.
